Anagama – Tres Piedras, NM

This kiln was designed by John Bradford and built in 2006 by members of the Taos ceramics community. This anagama style kiln is fired for 7 – 10 days. Its design encourages heavy ash accumulation and subtle color variations of reds, purples, and blues on unglazed clay. Everything about this kiln invites variation in the finished work; every firing is different and every unloading gifts us unique surfaces and textures.
